Color-Filled Canvasses are Springing into Rumson Gifts & Home Furnishings By: Kitsy Rose
Rumson Gifts & Home Furnishings is quickly becoming the place to shop for any and every occasion, so it comes as no surprise that owner, Catherine McGahan’s latest discovery in art is springing up in conversations everywhere. Recently adding the works of 25-year-old Hutton Snellings, shoppers can’t seem to get enough of her paintings.
Snellings, an Atlanta native, started painting at the age of 14, after being consumed by an issue of her mother’s Veranda magazine. Gathering supplies, she painted for hours recalling that, “she stepped back from her new creation looking at both it and the magazine page and instantly felt the kismet connection that painting was what she was meant to do.” Since that day forward, Snellings has been commissioning and selling her pieces on her own website as well as in galleries across the country.
“I was drawn immediately to Hutton’s work,” said Catherine McGahan owner of Rumson Gifts. “I am thrilled to have her calming and beautiful pieces on display and available for purchase.”
Typically working with acrylics as well as oils on canvas, she also enjoys utilizing charcoals, pastels and paper. Snellings’ contemporary abstract works are known to evoke emotion in the many that view them. Starting at $1,500, her larger pieces take anywhere from three to four weeks to complete. Her line of smaller, gift-sized artwork is also available at Rumson Gifts for $150 and up.
A graduate of The Lovett School and The University of Mississippi, Snellings is the fourth child of eight. She is an avid supporter of charities and frequently gives back to both of her alma maters as well as GCAPP, the Make a Wish Foundation, the Georgia Epilepsy Foundation, and Children’s Cancer Research to name a few.
Snellings’ works can be exclusively found in Atlanta at Rumson Gifts which is located in Buckhead at 458 East Paces Ferry Road, Atlanta, GA 30305 as well as on-line at www.rumsongifts.com. For more information or an appointment, please call 404-441-3599.
